Announcement from the Leaf Experts at Dave Smith Nissan

Did you know that more than 500,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles have been sold, making it one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the world? Yup, and recently Nissan revealed the details on its 2021 version and it continues to deliver exciting EV performance and cutting-edge technology that owners have almost half a million owners have come to enjoy!

I’m interested. Tell me more about the trim levels available in 2021?

There are three trim levels of the 2021 Nissan Leaf. The 2021 Nissan Leaf family begins with the S trim. This trim has LED lights, halogen headlights, and power-adjustable mirrors. It also has a well-equipped interior with automatic temperature control and an eight-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay included. Starting with the second trim level SV trim, a hybrid heating system is available along with map lights and a rear door alert. Leather seats are standard on the top trim, called the SL, which also adds a Bose sound system.

Two battery packs are available for 2021

The 2021 Nissan LEAF is available with two battery packs, the LEAF and the extended-range LEAF PLUS. The LEAF is equipped with a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery and 110-kW electric motor that delivers 147 horsepower, 236 lb-ft of torque and up to 149 miles of range. It’s available in two trim levels, S and SV.
For those who need maximum range, the LEAF PLUS features a larger 62-kWh lithium-ion battery, increasing its range to up to 226 miles. The LEAF PLUS also features a more powerful 160 kW motor that produces 214 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The LEAF PLUS is offered in three trim levels – S PLUS, SV PLUS and SL PLUS.

How quickly can Leafs be charged?

Both the LEAF and LEAF PLUS can be charged up to 80 percent in 40-45 minutes using the quick charge port. Owners can either have a Level 2 Charger installed at their home or use Nissan’s Portable Charging Cable to plug into a 120-volt outlet or any 240-volt outlet.
Every 2021 Nissan LEAF is offered with a limited lithium-ion battery warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Nissan also provides a limited warranty against battery capacity loss below nine bars of capacity as shown on the vehicle’s battery capacity level gauge for the first eight years or 100,000 miles for all models.

What sort of technologies can I expect with a LEAF?

Advanced technologies in the Leafs include NissanConnect with Nissan Door to Door Navigation, NissanConnect EV, and Nissan Telematics. Telematics pack allows a remote connection to the vehicle to start a charge, monitor the state of a charge, and turn on the heat or A/C before getting into the vehicle.
Standard on LEAF SL PLUS and optional on LEAF and LEAF SV PLUS is ProPILOT Assist5, a hands-on driver assist system that combines Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control and steering assist technologies and a stop and hold function that can bring the vehicle to a full stop and hold in place.
Further enhancing the Nissan LEAF driving experience is the standard e-Pedal6, which allows the driver to start, accelerate, decelerate and come to a full stop and hold using only the accelerator pedal.

Tell me about the LEAF’s safety features for 2021

The 2021 Leaf has an array of advanced safety aids in the Safety Shield 360 package. These include forward-collision warning, rear collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, and automatic emergency braking.
